Durban – Play restarted at 12.40pm on Friday in the second Test between South Africa and India at Kingsmead in Durban.

No play was possible at the start of the day, because of rain, and an early lunch was taken.

The two sessions remaining in the day, were scheduled to last two-and-a-half hours each to try and make up for the time lost.

Play was due to start 30 minutes earlier on Friday after the first day ended prematurely when bad light took the players off just after tea on Thursday.

India would resume on 181 for one. Murali Vijay was unbeaten on 91 and had shared an unbeaten second wicket partnership of 140 with Cheteshwar Pujara (58 not out).

Morne Morkel took the only wicket to fall on Thursday when Shikhar Dhawan was caught at third slip for 29.

The series is tied at 0-0 after the first Test in Johannesburg ended in a draw. – Sapa
