FATULLAH, Bangladesh – Bangladesh “A” won the toss and opted to bat first in a Twenty20 warm-up match against the Proteas in Fatullah on Tuesday.

AB de Villiers will lead the side in the absence of regular T20 captain Faf du Plessis, who is sitting out with a hamstring injury.

“Faf experienced tightness during the third T20 against Australia on Friday evening,” team manager Mohammed Moosajee said.

“Further assessment revealed a Grade 1 strain to his right hamstring. He has been receiving intensive treatment and will be rested for the two warm-up matches in an attempt to make sure he is ready for the first match on Saturday.”

Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel had responded well to treatment, he said. They would be given a full run in the warm-up matches to ensure their full fitness ahead of their first official group fixture in the 2014 T20 World Cup against India on Saturday.

As the match against Bangladesh “A” is an unofficial fixture, both sides are allowed to make use of all 15 players in the squad.
