COLOMBO - JP Duminy struck on the stroke of lunch as Sri Lanka ended a lively first session on 115 for three, in the second Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Thursday.
The Sri Lankans won the toss and elected to bat first, but Dale Steyn struck with the fifth and sixth balls of his third over to reduce them to 16 for two. He had opener Upul Tharanga caught behind, before inducing a mis-timed pull from Kumar Sangakkara, who found Imran Tahir at square-leg.
Mahela Jayawardene survived the hat-trick ball, and then racked up a 99-run stand with opener Kaushal Silva, who fell to Duminy for 44. Jayawardene reached his fifty off just 58 balls, and will resumed after lunch on 53 not out.
