Johannesburg – South Africa coasted to a commanding 110-run victory over Sri Lanka in their final Super Sixes match of the Women's Cricket World Cup in Cuttack, India, on Wednesday.

The Proteas women, anchored by a solid middle order, reached 227/8 after they lost the toss and were sent in to bat.

In reply, Sri Lanka were dismissed for 127 in the 37th over, with teenager Dane van Niekerk spearheading the South African bowling attack.

Spinner Van Niekerk, 19, took four wickets for 18 runs to dismantle the Sri Lankan batting line-up, which was held up by opener Chamari Atapattu who produced a lone 63-run fight at the top of the order.

Earlier, Shandre Fritz, who made 64 runs, and Cri-Zelda Brits, who hit 52, had both made half-centuries to lead the Proteas women.

Veteran seam bowler Chamani Seneviratna was the best of the Sri Lankan bowlers, taking three for 44 to lead the struggling attack.
