Johannesburg - South Africa’s all-out pace attack was full of value during the morning session as they saw off the Sri Lankan batting line up before the lunch break to force the follow on.

Sri Lanka were all bundled out for 131 in their first innings to trail South Africa by 295 runs shortly before the lunch break.

Kagiso Rabada struck shortly after the Proteas sent the tourists back in to bat as he got Kaushal Silva’s (0) wicket to leave Sri Lanka on 13 for one and 282 runs behind.

Debutante Duanne Olivier had a spell to remember grabbing two wickets for 19 after Vernon Philander set the tone with an early wicket.

Sri Lanka had a torrid time at the crease during their first innings losing six wickets for 51 runs.

Each one of South Africa’s four fast bowlers finished the morning with a wicket to show for their efforts with Wayne Parnell also grabbing two wickets.

Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander made the damage to the middle order allowing Philander and Olivier to get rid of the tail.

Philander finished the morning session with top figures of 3/28 with Rabada boasting 3/44.

Sri Lanka started the day on withered legs on an overnight total of 80/4 trailing South Africa by 346 runs with captain Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal left to rebuild their innings.

If there was any optimism from the visitors, it did not last long as Philander struck only 15 deliveries into the day with Chandimal edging the ball to Quinton de Kock for a regulation catch.

Rabada and Philander continued to take turns at claiming Sri Lankan scalps with the former getting the edge from Mathews (19) with De Kock taking a stunner of a catch diving to his right to grab the ball in front of first slip.

Olivier was next to celebrate with his bouncer claiming its victim with Rangana Herath (8) lobbing the ball with Stephen Cook taking the catch at short leg also adding Upul Tharanga (24) as a victim.

Parnell got his breakthrough when he removed Suranga Lakmal (4) before he wrapped up the Sri Lankan innings diving low to take the catch from his own bowling to see off Nuwan Pradeep (4).
