Dhaka – Australian captain George Bailey won the toss and elected to bat against the West Indies in a key Super-10 group two match of the World Twenty20 in Dhaka on Friday.

Both teams, who have lost a game each, need a win to remain in serious contention for the semi-finals.

Australia were beaten by Pakistan in their only game so far, while defending champions West Indies lost to India before defeating hosts Bangladesh.

A second loss for either team will almost certainly hasten an early exit.

Australia brought in 20-year-old leg-spinner James Muirhead and all-rounder James Faulkner in place of Brad Hogg and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

The West Indies retained the same side that beat Bangladesh.

Australia: George Bailey (capt), James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Brad Hodge, Doug Bollinger, Glenn Maxwell, James Muirhead, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Shane Watson.

West Indies: Darren Sammy (capt), Samuel Badree, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Denesh Ramdin, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Krishmar Santokie, Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith.

Umpires: Ian Gould (ENG) and Marais Erasmus (RSA)

TV umpire: Richard Kettleborough (ENG)

Match referee: Ranjan Madugalle (SRI) – Sapa-AFP
