New Delhi – India’s Supreme Court has refused to reinstate the suspended Narainswami Srinivasan after he requested to return as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

The court on Wednesday asked the BCCI to share its plans of investigation into corruption in the Indian Premier League during a hearing next Tuesday.

The court last month ordered a reluctant Srinivasan to step aside until the investigation was finished. Srinivasan’s son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan, was among those found guilty in a report submitted to the Supreme Court, and indicted in February.

The court appointed test great Sunil Gavaskar as interim president for the duration of the IPL, which was due to begin late Wednesday. – Sapa-AP
