Lahore, Pakistan – Pakistan's Mohammad Hafeez stepped down as Twenty20 captain after the team's failure to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

Hafeez said he had reached the decision of his own accord following Pakistan's 84-run loss to the West Indies.

“I am under no pressure (but) felt that I must step down as leader by taking responsibility and its for the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) to decide who to lead the team,” Hafeez told reporters. – Sapa-AFP
