Peter Moores’ days as England’s cricket coach seems to be numbered. Here is a brief look at events since he has taken charge.

April 2007-January 2009

Moores' first spell as England coach lasted two years, replacing the retiring Duncan Fletcher. He oversaw eight wins in 22 Test matches (three series victories) but was sacked after a falling out with captain Kevin Pietersen (right).

April 2014

Returned for a second time, seeing off the challenge by Ashley Giles to replace Andy Flower. Early ODI win over Scotland precedes Twenty20, ODI and Test series defeats at home to Sri Lanka, as reign gets off to a bumpy beginning.

July

After a poor start to the series that had India leading 1-0 after two Tests, England respond with a vengeance to take the series 3-1 - including innings victories in the last two games. Also won a Twenty20 match but lost ODI series 3-1.

October

Pietersen's book is released, following his sacking in February. The former captain savages a number of past and current players and coaches, and goes on to label Moores as a 'woodpecker' for blunting the career of Eoin Morgan (right).

November

After success in the opening warm-up match, England go down heavily to a 5-2 defeat in a ODI series in Sri Lanka. Joe Root was one of England's few positives as Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara shone for the hosts.

February 2015

With Alastair Cook sacked as ODI captain before Christmas, England have a disastrous World Cup. Heavy defeats by Australia and New Zealand precede a humiliating loss to Bangladesh as England fail to make it out of the groups.

April

Further discord in the England hierarchy as Paul Downton (right), who brought Moores back, pays the price for World Cup shambles with his sacking as managing director. The ECB announces an overhaul of their management structure.

April

England return to the Test arena but are unconvincing in taking a series lead in the West Indies, enlivened by James Anderson's Test wickets record. Dismal showing in third Test costs England a series win. – The Independent
