Mohammad Amir, one of the Pakistan cricketers jailed for fixing parts of a Test match in England last year, has been released.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Former Pakistan captain and coach Waqar Younis has urged the International Cricket Council to review their five-year ban on young paceman Mohammad Amir.
Amir was released from jail on Wednesday because of good behaviour after serving half his six-month sentence for spot-fixing during a Test against England in August 2010.
Younis says Amir could only make a comeback if his suspension is reduced. “It's difficult for a fast bowler to keep himself fit if he is not allowed to play even club cricket.”
Amir's suspension from all levels of cricket will not end until September 2015. – Sapa-AP

Not in this lifetime Waqar.....by the time you play Test cricket you know full well the ramifications of match manipulation. I will bet every one of our U19's know. This chap took a chance and got caught, if he can't make a comeback at 25, well then so be it, he can go find a regular job like every other non-cricketer. Cricket owe's him nothing, he's tarnished the name of the sport.....he knew the consequenses, he must now accept the punishment!!!!
