Sir Bradley Wiggins came under more pressure Tuesday night when both Chris Froome and Sir Chris Hoy insisted he has questions to answer over the use of a banned substance for medical reasons.

The crisis engulfing Team Sky increased at the weekend when team principal Sir Dave Brailsford admitted making the situation a ‘damn sight worse’ by giving inaccurate answers about the mystery package delivered to the team after Wiggins won a race in France in June 2011.

In an interview with Cycling News, reigning Tour de France champion Froome said: ‘With regards to Wiggins, questions remain over his symptoms, the choice of treatment and the related performance benefits from that treatment.

‘I was surprised, it was the first I had heard of them. Without knowing the details of his medical condition, it’s impossible to say if he was operating in a grey area.

‘It’s a great shame that we’re once again debating the validity of a Tour de France victory.’

Olympic hero Hoy said: ‘He definitely has to answer questions. He needs to explain the situation.’
