Johannesburg – South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen fired a third round four under 67 and vowed to keep attacking in the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club on Saturday.

Oosthuizen remained four shots adrift, but moved up three spots, for a share of sixth, at the close of the round as Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy led the way on 13 under.

“I'm in a good spot. The way the golf course is now, you can attack quite a bit,” said Oosthuizen after his round.

“So you know you don't get that opportunity every time you play a Major. It will be fun.

“I think it should be very interesting tomorrow to see the guys probably go at a lot of pins.”

The 2010 Open champion began his round slowly as he was one over after four holes, but two birdies before the turn allowed Oosthuizen to go out in one under. Three more birdies coming home helped Oosthuizen to his nine under total going into the final round.

“I had a rough start, really. And just putted beautifully, the same as yesterday.

“I missed quite a few putts over the edges, but I made some good ones as well.

“I'm just happy, I'm swinging it better, making a few putts and I'm right up there.”

With the course ripe for scoring, there could be a number of challengers for the title on Sunday according to Oosthuizen.

“The greens are quite soft. You had four, five, six-irons into the greens, you are actually attacking it still towards the pin. It definitely makes it a bit easier out there.”

Ernie Els was the next best South African in a tie for 23rd after a third round 68 for a five under total. Charl Schwartzel was a further shot behind on four under after a 69 in 32nd spot on the leaderboard.

Branden Grace quietly compiled a third round 68 to get to two under and tie for 42nd. Richard Sterne was also on two under after a one over 72 on the day. – Sapa
