Shenzen, China – Louis Oosthuizen and Adam Scott both shot rounds of 7-under 65 to share the HSBC Champions lead after the opening day Thursday.

Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open-winner, played a bogey-free round with seven birdies, while this year's runner up, Scott finished his round with two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole. Scott had six birdies for the day against one bogey.

Two-time HSBC Champions winner Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Peter Hanson and Shane Lowry were one shot back at 6-under.

Lowry had a two-stroke lead over the field down the stretch before bogies on his final two holes dropped him back into a tie for third.

Dustin Johnson shot a 67 to sit two strokes off the lead with Thailand's Prom Meesawat. – Sapa-AP
