Noren leads Scottish Open

Inverness Scotland – Alexander Noren of Sweden shot a second straight 6-under 66 at the Scottish Open to take a one-stroke lead midway through the second round on Friday.

Noren, who turned 30 on Thursday, made six birdies and an eagle at Castle Stuart to move clear of big-hitting Argentine Ricardo Gonzalez (64) on 12 under. S.S.P. Chowrasia of India is on 10 under after a 67.

Former No. 1 Martin Kaymer bogeyed two of his last three holes for a 68, dropping back to a share of fifth place on 9 under. Phil Mickelson shot a 64 to lie five shots off the pace.

Noren, ranked No. 89, moved into contention for the £416, 660 first prize the day after his girlfriend, Emelie, won a women's tour event in Norway. – Sapa-AP
