Sun City - Paraguayan golfer Fabrizio Zanotti broke a 35-year drought shooting the first ever hole-in-one at the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City during the second round of the tournament.

Since its inception in 1981 players have been trying to make an ace on the Gary Player Country Club before Zanotti’s eagle on the par-three fourth hole.

Landing the shot with his seven iron, Zanotti leapt into to the top of the leader board on six-under par but unfortunately he will miss out on the hole-in-one prize, a new Volvo S90 on the 16th.

Zanotti made a cracking start to the second round with two birdies and par on the third hole before his getting the rub of the green.

The ball landed 20 feet from the flag and as the ball rolled into the hole he tossed the club in delight before giving Swede Henrik Stenson and South African Thomas Aiken high fives.

Zanotti took the ball out of the cup, kissed it before throwing it to spectators.
