Two Premier Soccer League clubs recently held award functions.
Calvin Marlin, the Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper, crowned a good season by picking up two club awards. The Port Elizabeth-born Marlin was named the club's player of the year and also won the approval of his team-mates by being voted the players' player of the year.
Midfielder Steve Pienaar, a product of the Johannesburg-based School of Excellence was named the young professional of the year, and striker Carlo Scott walked off with the most improved player award. Albert Hendricks, the club's kit manager and general assistant was named the sportsman of the year.
Hellenic's player of the year award went to the ever-reliable George Moyo, a former Kaizer Chiefs defender.
Grant Young, who was given a special award for his 10 years service to the club, was also the club's top goalscorer.
Defender Andrew Tucker won the sportsman of the year award; Craig Bianchi was the recipient of the most improved player, and George Owusu won a prize for enthusiasm at training.
