Johannesburg - Runner Hilton Murray completed 10 87-kilometre races in 10 consecutive days, including the Comrades Marathon at the weekend, Beeld newspaper reported on Monday.

Murray was part of the “Ten10” charity challenge, but was the only runner who managed to complete all 10 races.

Murray, Hazel Moller and Carlo Gibson started the run in Bedfordview, east of Johannesburg, on May 23.

According to their twitter feed, Gibson suffered an injury around Day 4 while Moller suffered from stomach cramps by Day 6.

Hilton, however, completed all nine days of 87 kilometres each - and then completed the Comrades Marathon on Sunday, with 15 minutes to go before the cut-off time.

“I felt like Forest Gump,” he told Beeld newspaper. “I am very, very grateful that this is over.”

He walked the last few kilometres.

The trio ran to raise funds for two charities - Pets Empowerment in Townships, and Pink Drive, a breast cancer community carer.
