Singapore – South African swimming ace Chad le Clos is now second overall on the World Cup standings after the FINA Swimming World Cup in Singapore which ended on Saturday.

There are now two more stops to go, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Le Clos’s performance ranked third in Singapore after he earned two gold medals in the 50m and 200m butterfly events.

In the 50m butterfly, Le Clos won with a time of 22.33 while in the 100m he clocked 49.26.

Star of the weekend was Russia’s Vladimir Morozov, who bagged four gold medals in the 50/100m freestyle, the 100m breaststroke and 100m IM.

Morozov maintains his leading position in the overall ranking with 514 points He is followed by Le Clos (429).

Philip Heintz still keeps the third position of the overall standing despite not taking part in the Singapore leg but is dangerously challenged by Japan’s Daiya Seto who is currently fourth.

Seto showed great energy this weekend and claimed gold in three events: 200m fly and 200/400m IM.

Mykhailo Romanchuk (UKR) set a new World Cup record in 14.15.49, a record previously established by Gregorio Paltrinieri (ITA) in 14:27.65, who also owns the World Record (14:08.06).

Romanchuk was the best in the 400m free too, while Mitchell Larkin (AUS) also won two races (100/200m back).
