Dobroskok lands gold in springboard event

Barcelona - Russia's Alexander Dobroskok grabbed gold in the men's three-metre springboard diving at the world swimming championships on Tuesday.

Dobroskok, who with Dmitry Sautin won gold for Russia in the three-metre synchronised event at the weekend, scored 788.37 points to beat China's Bo Peng in to second place with 780.84.

Sautin, who won gold in the individual event at the 1998 and 2001 world championships, was third with 776.64. It was the Russian's 21st medal in Olympics, world championships and World Cup competition.

Dobroskok, who has also won three-metre gold medals on the Grand Prix circuit this year, was a bronze medallist in the one-metre board at the 2001 world championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
