Johannesburg – London Olympians Stephen Mokoka and Rene Kalmer will spearhead the South African team at the World Half-Marathon Championships in Kavarna, Bulgaria, on October 6.
Mokoka would be joined by Lucky Mohale and Gladwin Mzazi, Athletics SA announced on Friday, while Kalmer was included alongside her younger sister, Christine, and Nolene Conrad.
After struggling in humid conditions in the men's marathon at the London Games, Mokoka defended his title at the SA Half-Marathon Championships in August in a personal best time of one hour, 57 seconds (1:00.57).
Mohale and Mzazi were second and third respectively at the national championships.
Kalmer proved she was in form last week when she completed the Great North Run in Newcastle, England, in 1:00.13. – Sapa
