Doha, Qatar - South Africa's fine efforts in the FINA/airweave World Cup series continued in Doha, Qatar on Monday night where they earned six medals.
Doha was also the venue for many other stellar performances from South African sportsmen and women as the IPC Athletics World Championships wound up at the weekend.
The opening night of the World Cup saw SA swimmers claim four gold and one silver and one bronze medals.
Cameron van der Burgh has been dominating the series until now but it was fellow Olympian and Commonwealth ace Chad le Clos who was victorious on three occasions, bringing home gold in the 200-metre butterfly with a time of 1min 55.80sec, while silver went to Denmark's Viktor Bromer in 1:56.30 and the bronze to Australia's Christopher Wright in 1:57.03.
In the 100m freestyle, Le Clos' time of 48.96 again won him gold, over a second ahead of Argentina's Federico Grabich in 49.39 and France's Jeremy Stravius in 49.42. South Africans Caydon Muller came fourth in 49.63 and Douglas Erasmus eighth in 50.10.
Durbanite Le Clos concluded the first day with his third gold medal in the 50m butterfly, clocking 23.43 to American Giles Smith's 23.58 (USA) and Serbian Ivan Lender's 23.87.
Van der Burgh was once again on point in the 50m breaststroke, winning the race in a fast 26.96 from teammate Giulio Zorzi in 27.69. There was another medal for Van der Burgh in the 200m breaststroke, as he scooped the bronze medal in 2:12.14.
Hungary's Daniel Gyurta walked away with the gold in 2:10.33 and Russia's Oleg Kostin took silver in 2:11.44.
Last year's Youth Olympic Games team member Jarred Crous finished eighth with a time of 2:15.47.
In other results, Jacques van Wyk finished eighth in the 100m backstroke final in 56.72, while Michael Meyer and Ayrton Sweeney came fifth and sixth in the 400m Individual Medley in 4:24.12 and 4:28.07 respectively
