Carlos Queiroz must sweat a little longer before knowing whether he will take Bafana Bafana to the World Cup.
The SA Football Association said a media conference scheduled for Saturday to announce the verdict of the national executive committee had been postponed to Monday.
The top brass were to gather at a Johannesburg airport hotel on Saturday morning to give Queiroz a vote of confidence or replace him, with former star Jomo Sono strongly tipped to assume control.
Mozambique-born Queiroz has come under sustained fire, from the media and fans, after the national soccer team were eliminated from the African Nations Cup quarter-finals by hosts Mali in February.
Bafana finished first (1996), second (1998) and third (2000) in the previous three editions.
But South Africa could manage only goalless draws with Burkina Faso and Ghana and a 3-1 triumph over Morocco before a lacklustre display led to a 2-0 defeat by hosts Mali.
Former Portugal coach Queiroz signed a two-year contract in September 2000 and his first match in charge saw Bafana hold world champions France goalless at Ellis Park.
He steered Bafana to the World Cup and Nations Cup finals, but a series of uninspired recent showings have put pressure on the coach in a country where football expectations are often unrealistic.
