Bafana Bafana replica jerseys are selling fast at city sports stores and some outlets say they expect sales to double this week as Cape Town gears up for the World Cup final draw.
Total Sports, Sportsman's Warehouse and Jack Lemkus say they are pleased with the way the jerseys are selling.
Warren Engeldoe, the manager of Total Sports in Adderley Street, said that since the launch of the jerseys two weeks ago, they had been selling well. He is confident that sales will climb during the early months of 2010.
He said four of the jerseys had been sold at the store within five minutes of being placed on the shelves.
Nick Glover, the manager of Jack Lemkus in St George's Mall, said the outlet was selling on average 60 jerseys a week.
"The total will probably be double this week with the draw coming up," Glover said.
Sportsman's Warehouse Canal Walk manager Fabian McMillan said the store's jerseys were selling well.
Jersey prices range anywhere between R349 to R599, and the original can be bought for R1 200 and up.
Various stalls at Cape Town station are also selling the replica jerseys for about R150.
A stall owner selling the replica jerseys at the station said not many people were buying her jerseys.
