Ackermann changes Lions backline

Johannesburg – Golden Lions head coach Johan Ackermann named his 22-man outfit, which will face the EP Kings in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Ackermann has made a few changes to the backline, following last weekend's match against Western Province. Ruan Combrinck will start at his preferred position of fullback, Lionel Mapoe will run out at right wing and Stokkies Hanekom reverts to the outside centre berth for this match.

Alwyn Hollenbach returns to action and will start at inside centre, while Andries Coetzee will fill the flyhalf slot.

In the forwards, the Lions welcome back captain Warren Whiteley at eighthman. Jaco Kriel will also start this match alongside Whiteley in the loose trio. In the front row, Armand van der Merwe will make a start at hooker.

Lions team: Ruan Combrinck, Lionel Mapoe, Stokkies Hanekom, Alwyn Hollenbach, Courtnall Skosan, Andries Coetzee, Ross Cronje, Warren Whiteley (captain), Warwick Tecklenburg, Jaco Kriel, Franco Mostert, MB Lusaseni, Ruan Dreyer, Armand van der Merwe, Schalk van der Merwe.
