Durban - In a closely-contested affair, the visiting Blue Bulls ran out 17-13 winners after leading 10-6 at halftime against the Sharks in their Absa Currie Cup match in Durban on Friday evening.

The Blue Bulls outscored their hosts two tries to one in very humid conditions at the KWZ coastal town venue.

The result means that the Bulls have now recorded their sixth win of the season and will remain second on the overall standings behind the pace-setters, Jukskei neighbours, the Golden Lions.

With this defeat, the Sharks look likely to miss out on a semifinal spot at the end of the season.

Next weekend, the Bulls will host the EP Kings at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria while the Sharks travel to Kimberley to face Griquas. Scorers: Sharks 13 (6): Try: Garth April. Conversion: Joe Pietersen. Penalties: Pietersen (2) Blue Bulls 17 (10): Tries: Jamba Ulengo, Deon Stegmann. Conversions: Tian Schoeman (2). Penalty: Schoeman - ANA
