Brisbane, Australia – Wallabies flyhalf Quade Cooper will have precautionary scans on a neck injury after being carried from the field Friday during a Super Rugby trial match between the Queensland Reds and Melbourne Rebels.
Cooper sustained the injury when heavily tackled in the last minute of the match, won 18-13 by the Rebels. Play was delayed for some time while medical staff tended to Cooper before he was lifted from the field on a stretcher.
Queensland coach Richard Graham later said the injury probably wasn't serious and Cooper may play in the Reds' season opener next weekend against the ACT Brumbies.
Graham said Cooper was alert and in good spirits, but scans were needed before he could be cleared of a serious injury.– Sapa-AP
