Johannesburg - Tian Schoeman scored 24 points to lead the Blue Bulls to a 54-7 (half-time 37-7) win over the Valke in their Vodacom Cup North Section match at Loftus Versfeld B field in Pretoria on Friday.

Flyhalf Schoeman scored a try and kicked five conversions and three penalties as the hosts ran riot against an out-gunned Valke outfit who have won just one game this season.

The Bulls outscored the Valke seven tries to one to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive.

Tries by centre Waylon Murray, wing Sampie Mastriet and flank Wimpie van der Walt allowed the Bulls to pull away early in the match with Schoeman converting all three tries.

The Valke hit back with a try through hooker Devlin Hope which was converted by pivot Cecil Dumond.

Schoeman scored the Bulls' bonus point try with 10 minutes remaining while he also kicked two first-half penalties to give the Bulls a 34-7 halftime lead.

The second half proved to be an all blue affair as the Valke failed to score a single point.

Schoeman kept the scoreboard ticking for the home side with an early penalty before two late tries from Mastriet and replacement threequarter Ryan Nell made sure of the victory for the hosts.

Blue Bulls- Tries: Waylon Murray, Sampie Mastriet (2), Wimpie van der Walt (2), Tian Schoeman, Ryan Nell; Conversions: Schoeman (5); Penalties: Schoeman (3).

Valke- Try: Devlin Hope; Conversion: Cecil Dumond.
