Bulls_Kings1 Gallo Images The Kings struggled to score against a steely Bulls defence.

Port Elizabeth – The Bulls scored two tries in the last four minutes to register an important bonus point as they recorded a 34-0 over the Southern Kings in their Super Rugby fixture at a capacity Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

The visitors led 20-0 after 34 minutes, but had to wait until the 76th minute before they added to that score as Jacques Potgieter and Akona Ndungane crossed for tries to complete an outstanding win in which the Bulls' defence and forward play were impressive.

After being outplayed by the Bulls pack on a slippery field in the first half, the Kings fought back tenaciously in the second half and at one stage enjoyed substantial territorial advantage.

However, they came up against a rock-solid Bulls defence who shut them down at every opportunity and never allowed the home side a sniff of getting any points.

Centre Jan Serfontein was one of the star players in the Bulls backline and opened their scoring in the seventh minute with his first Super Rugby try after some intense pressure.

Flyhalf Morne Steyn added the conversion to make it 7-0.

In the 20th minute, Steyn added a penalty and then the Bulls caught the Kings napping when they ran the ball from their own half for scrumhalf Jano Vermaak to cross for their second try.

Steyn made it 17-0 with the conversion and added a drop goal in the 34th minute to maintain the Bulls' supremacy.

The second half was a much closer battle, but the Bulls were comfortably able to repel any home team attacks and eventually created enough pressure to cross for two important tries. Replacement flyhalf Louis Fouche added the conversions to complete a highly satisfactory trip to the Friendly City for the Bulls. – Sapa
