Johannesburg – The Sharks will be without lock Pieter-Steph du Toit after he was ruled out for the rest of the year, the franchise confirmed on Friday.

“Scans have confirmed that Pieter-Steph du Toit has suffered an ACL injury and has been ruled out for the entire year,” the Sharks said in a statement.

The 21-year-old sustained the injury to his anterior cruciate ligament during a training session on Thursday.

This forced Sharks director of rugby Jake White to make changes to his line-up for this weekend's clash against the Reds at Kings Park in Durban.

White has now called on Stephan Lewies to replace the injured Du Toit. – Sapa
