Johannesburg – The Lions suffered two injuries in their 19-12 victory over the Southern Kings in a pre-season rugby warm-up match in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Fullback Andries Coetzee suffered a knee injury that would keep him sidelined for approximately six weeks. Pumas lock Rudi Mathee was ruled out for eight weeks after fracturing his arm.

The Johannesburg franchise received some encouraging news that Elton Jantjies, Anthony Volmink and Ruan Dreyer were making good progress recovering from shoulder injuries.

The three players were expected to make a return to action within three weeks, the Lions said in a statement. – Sapa
