Johannesburg – Lions hooker Robbie Coetzee has been cited and will hear his fate on Tuesday for a spear tackle during his side’s

40-17 Super Rugby win over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

Sanzar announced Coetzee had been cited on Sunday after the player had received a yellow card for a tackle, but the rugby body has taken further action.

“Upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play,” said Sanzar in a statement.

“All Sanzar disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer (DJO) hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

“For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.”

The Judicial Officer for the hearing will be Robert Stelzner SC which will be held via video conference on Tuesday. – ANA
