John Mitchell could be without a job soon after a group of Lions players voiced their concern about their treatment under the strict taskmaster, Beeld newspaper is reporting.

The group have approached Golden Lions Rugby Union President Kevin de Klerk with their grieviences

The players are understood to have expressed unhappiness over the coach’s “unreasonable” demands of his squad.

According to the report, the Lions are working around the clock to try and smooth the matter out, but the damage may have done after the breach in trust between the players and the coach.

This is not the first time Mitchell has been in this situation. He was fired as Western Force coach and was unpopular as All Blacks boss with his strict coaching methods rubbing his players the wrong way.

The Lions look destined to play Vodacom Cup rugby next season after their poor Super Rugby campaign this season, where they’re likely to finish last in the South African Conference.
