Lions, Stormers to host quarter-finals

Cape Town – The 2016 Super Rugby quarter-final play-offs will see the Lions and Stormers hosting fixtures on Saturday.

Since the four conference winners are all guaranteed home matches, a third South African side, the Sharks secured a wildcard berth and will travel to Wellington, New Zealand for a showdown on Saturday.

The Australian Conference winners Brumbies start off the play-off fare when they host the Kiwi’s Highlanders on Friday.

After the Hurricanes, Sharks clash, the spotlight moves to South Africa.

First Africa 2 Conference winners, the Lions, host New Zealand’s Crusaders and then the Africa 1 Conference winners, the Stormers, host another New Zealand team, the Chiefs, in the weekend’s final fixture.

2016 Super Rugby quarter-final line-up (with seedings in brackets):

Friday:

Brumbies (4) v Highlanders (5), GIO Stadium, Canberra

Saturday:

Hurricanes (1) v Sharks (8), Westpac Stadium, Wellington

Lions (2) v Crusaders (7), Emirates Airlines Park, Johannesburg

Stormers (3) v Chiefs (6), Newlands, Cape Town
