Pretoria: The Bulls will be without lethal attacking scrumhalf Rudy Paige after he was ruled out of the big clash against the Stormers at Newlands.

Bulls doctor Org Strauss confirmed that Paige sustained a grade 1 medial ligament tear and will be out of action for up to two weeks.

Paige’s devastating form has sparked the Bulls attacks this season which earned him plenty of praise from coach Frans Ludeke.

“He is a busy character and gets a lot of things going in the side, especially with the way we want to go forward in our attack,” Ludeke said.

Springbok Piet van Zyl is likely to get a rare start while Francois Hougaard remains on the wing where he has rekindled the form that made him one of the best attacking exponents in world rugby in 2010.

The Bulls also welcome back Springbok centre Jan Serfontein after sitting out the past three weeks due to injury and Saru’s resting agreements.

Serfontein’s return will alleviate any concern the Bulls will have over the hamstring scare to inside centre Burger Odendaal, who is still a doubtful starter for Saturday’s game.

Odendaal sat out yesterday’s training along with Bjorn Basson (knee) and Flip van der Merwe (knee) but the latter duo should be back at training today. - Cape Times
