Johannesburg – The Blue Bulls confirmed on Wednesday that Johann Sadie will leave the franchise at the end of October after the player negotiated a successful release of his contract this week.

Sadie was contracted till the end of October 2013, but will now join the Cheetahs after the completion of the 2012 Currie Cup competition.

Sadie joined the Bulls in November last year from Western Province and played in 10 of the team's 17 Super Rugby clashes.

He started in seven of those and played off the bench in three.

Injuries curtailed his progress in the early and latter stages of the competition.

He may still play a significant role in the Blue Bulls' Currie Cup campaign as Frans Ludeke, head coach of the franchise, indicated goodwill in the whole process.

“We still see him, along with the likes of CJ Stander (leaving for Munster at the end of the season), as pivotal to our Currie Cup campaign and believe that he will deliver the goods for us,” said Ludeke. – Sapa
