The Blitzboks made a fine start at the Singapore Sevens with wins over Japan and France on Saturday.

In their opener, the Springbok Sevens ran in eight tries to win 52-0 after leading 21-0 at halftime, with Siviwe Soyizwapi scoring a hat-trick and Werner Kok getting a brace.

Soyizwapi was again twice on the score-sheet in the next match against, which the Blitzboks won 10-7 against France.

But there was drama after Soyizwapi was controversially yellow-carded for a high tackle, which saw the French lay siege to the South African tryline.

The Blitzboks, though, managed to hold out for a 10-7 victory that should see them qualify for the Cup quarter-finals.

In their remaining match on Saturday, the Blitzboks go up against England at 1.02pm SA time.

England, who have been a bogey team for the South Africans, surprisingly went down 24-14 to France in an earlier clash.
