The Blitzboks claimed their second World Sevens Series tournament title in as many weeks when they whipped England 29-14 to build on their already-impressive World Sevens Series campaign.

The South Africans got revenge over England after suffering a 21-15 defeat in the pool game on day one, and they also made up for coming short against England in the final of the Cape Town leg of the Series.

The Springbok Sevens side started well and showed great attacking intent in the Cup final. quickly running up a 19-0 halftime lead as skipper Philip Snyman, Seabelo Senatla and Justin Geduld all crossed over for five-pointers.

Geduld built on the South Africans’ tally when he added his name to the try-scoring list again early in the second half to extend the Blitzboks’ lead to 24-0.

And just when England thought they could launch a comeback as Tom Mitchell went over the line to score, the Blitzboks’ travelling reserve Stephan Dippenaar put the result beyond doubt just before Dan Norton went over for a consolation try as the full-time whistle was blown.

Earlier in the day, the Blitzboks beat USA and hosts Australia to book their place in the final.
