Johannesburg – For those adoring fans who are more interested in Pat Lambie’s physique than his rugby skills, his latest venture into advertising is guaranteed to delight.

He has packed away his dandruff shampoo and whipped out his underpants by signing a four-year contract with underwear brand Jockey.

The Sharks and Springboks player is the first South African to be named a Jockey ambassador since the brand’s arrival in the country 60 years ago.

He will follow in the footsteps of American footballer Tim Tebow, who was recently named as the face of Jockey in the US.

Even though Lambie admits that modelling and endorsing underwear was not something he had thought of doing, he changed his mind after the first shoot.

“When Jockey approached me, I had mixed emotions. I was excited but nervous about modelling, more especially modelling underwear,” he said.

Jockey’s marketing associate, Garlai Combrinck said selecting Lambie from the many South African celebrities was easy.

“We truly believe Pat visibly embodies what our brand stands for.” – The Star
