Thomas Waldrom has replaced Phil Dowson on England's bench for the second rugby Test against South Africa at Ellis Park on Saturday.

England's Rugby Football Union said on Friday that Dowson had been withdrawn from the match-day 22 with a tight hamstring.

Uncapped Leicester No. 8 Waldrom scored two tries and won the Man of the Match award in the midweek game against South Africa Barbarians South in Kimberley and was key in England's 54-26 win.

The New Zealand-born loose forward will add valuable bulk for England against a typically physical Springboks pack.
