Following initial consideration by the Foul Play Review Committee, Lions flank Jaco Kriel will appear at a SANZAAR Judicial Committee hearing after being cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

Kriel is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4(o) Late charging the Kicker, during the match between the Stormers and Lions at Newlands on Saturday.

The openside flank ploughed into Stormers flyhalf Robert du Preez while the player was in the air, and Kriel was handed a yellow card by referee Jaco Peyper.

The citing commissioner had deemed after the match that the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The Judicial Committee for the hearing will be André Oosthuizen (chairman), Eroni Clarke and David Croft, which will be held by video conference. A date and time is still to be confirmed.
