Kwagga Smith has been a sensation for the Blitzboks sevens side for a number of years, and there were doubts about whether he can make it in the 15-man code.

While known for his speed in the wide open spaces of sevens rugby, it was felt that the tight defences of Super Rugby would gobble him up.

But this isn’t any Kwagga – he is a special talent from Middelburg in Mpumalanga, and don’t let the 1980s moustache fool you either!

On Friday, with the Super Rugby clash against the Brumbies in Canberra balanced on a knife’s edge at 3-3 in the second half, the Lions began a brilliant counter-attack just outside their 22-metre area from a lost Brumbies lineout.

Centre Lionel Mapoe picked up the loose ball and found a flying Kwagga on his outside, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Kwagga got into full stride, sped over the halfway line and skinned at least three Brumbies defenders to dive over for an unbelievable try.

This try to Kwagga Smith was enough for the Lions to get past @BrumbiesRugby tonight. https://t.co/WLGrBW8QW5 #BRUvLIO pic.twitter.com/Je3iByroDm

And to finish things off, the Lions held on for a crucial 13-6 win that completed an unbeaten three-match tour of Australia.

Go you Kwagga!
