The verdict in Springbok prop Cobus Visagie's appeal against a two-year ban for failing a drugs test is now expected to be delivered next week.

A spokesman for the South African Rugby Football Union (Sarfu) said on Wednesday that the deliberations of the three-man appeal committee were continuing and plans to announce the verdict this week had been shelved.

Visagie failed a random drug test in October and was subsequently banned for two years by a Sarfu disciplinary commission after protracted hearings.

The 27-year-old has maintained his innocence throughout, claiming he only took dietary supplements supplied by the Springboks and his provincial union, Western Province. - Reuters
