LONDON – Eddie Jones has shown his ruthless streak yet again by axing Premiership Player of the Year Alex Goode from his England squad.

The decision may spell the end of the fullback’s international career – he is not among the 33 players who will gather for training in Brighton next week.

His demotion leaves Mike Haley of Sale as the main challenger to Mike Brown for the No 15 shirt, although Elliot Daly, Jack Nowell and Anthony Watson can all cover the position.

Jones said: "The thing that struck me about last year’s Six Nations is that sides were scared to lose. We want to make sure in this Six Nations, right from the word go, that we’re daring and we have the courage to play our game."

Leicester centre Manu Tuilagi is one of several players reinstated to the ranks after missing the autumn internationals through injury.

Suspended England skipper Dylan Hartley will take part in the camp to maintain his fitness as he still hopes to lead the national team in their Six Nations opener against France at Twickenham on February 4. – Daily Mail
