Durban – Cobus Reinach, Jean Deysel and Jacques Botes have been included as part of three changes made by the Sharks to their starting XV for the Currie Cup clash against the Blue Bulls in Pretoria on Friday.
There is also a place in the match-22 for Springbok flank Marcell Coetzee, after he was released by national coach Heyneke Meyer for the clash at Loftus Versfeld.
Scrumhalf Reinach replaces Charl McLeod, while Deysel comes in for Tera Mtembu to wear the number seven jersey.
Veteran Botes will equal former Free State Cheetahs wing Helgard Muller’s record of 142 Currie Cup caps, 26 of which were for the Pumas, by coming in ahead of Justin Downey.
The Sharks were currently top of the competition standings with two rounds of the regular season remaining.
They beat the Golden Lions 31-25 in their last game at the weekend when the Bulls thrashed Griquas 52-10 in Kimberley.
“The Bulls put in an incredible performance against Griquas on the weekend,” Sharks' backline coach Sean Everitt said on Wednesday.
“No-one else has been able to put that kind of score on them this year and, in Kimberley, Griquas are difficult so the Bulls were really good and we’ll have to be at our best at Loftus on Friday.”
