Fikile Mbalula has been appointed the new Minister of Sport and Recreation after the a cabinet reshuffle saw Makhenkesi Stofile ousted.
Olympic governing body Sascoc welcomed on Monday the appointment of former deputy police minister Fikile Mbalula as the new sport minister after a cabinet reshuffle was announced at the weekend.
“We welcome Minister Mbalula and as the country's sports movement we stand ready to carry out his wishes and dreams of making South Africa a sporting nation that will be respected globally,” Sascoc president Gideon Sam said in a statement.
He thanked ousted Makhenkesi Stofile for his “enormous contribution” to sport.
“We must thank Minister Stofile for his enormous contribution to sport as well as his guidance down the years. We also hope that his vast sporting knowledge will not be lost to the country and can still be utilised in some form.
“For now though, the 2012 Olympics in London get ever closer and Minister Mbalula will be a key part of our drive for success in this regard,” said Sam. – Sapa

clearly you are just bitter, you have way more grievances that go deeper than this article. I think Fikile deserves this position way more than you do. before you make comments about people not knowing anything please make sure your grammar and spellings are correct. In case you did not know it is not rocket science to be a minister, its all about being a leader same as having a CEO with a law background spearheading an engineering firm. I think pilot you just the idiot here. Your kind is just scorned because you did not get a chance to make money during the apartheid error!

Gotta be honest, i wasn't Fikile's huge fan during his time with ANCYL, but the little time the he spent with DoP made me realise that he is great leader who can deliver quality services.....very excited for his appointment....Undoubtedly he'll lead the way...

The reshuffle is interesting finaaly Young lions are given a chance in the big league this is a case for Malusi and Fikile I salute them hope they will represent the youth well. I am happy also about Barbara she needed to know how to tow the line. Did she think she will survive long after firing Guma and Maroga in Eskom this is politics you will be dealt with in a harsh manner. Good one Mr President you rock
