Johannesburg – A Fifa investigation into the alleged match-fixing of Bafana Bafana's friendly games has been completed The SA Football Association (Safa) said on Thursday.

It said the release of the findings in the report was “imminent”.

“Safa is eagerly awaiting the release of the Fifa report in order that we can take the appropriate actions and bring this unfortunate matter to a just and final conclusion,” said Safa CEO Robin Petersen.

According to Safa, the decision was made to not undertake its own parallel investigation, to avoid compromising Fifa's global enquiry into alleged match fixing.

“We are committed to take appropriate steps where required, as we have always maintained,” said Petersen.

Safa president Kirsten Nematandani said he was pleased the matter was coming to an end.

“Having co-operated with Fifa during their investigation, we are happy that this matter is coming to its conclusion, and our commitment to zero tolerance to corruption is well documented,” said Nematandani.

“Safa remains totally committed to working with Fifa to wipe out the scourge of corruption that is impacting on football globally.” – Sapa
