Bafana Bafana will face Zambia in the Nelson Mandela Challenge on November 14.
Bafana Bafana will face Zambia in the Nelson Mandela Challenge on November 14.
This was confirmed on Tuesday by a Zambian Football Association official, who said the fixture had been “signed and sealed” for the date.
Chipolopolo are the Africa Cup of Nations champions after winning the tournament staged in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon earlier this year.
“The game has been secured, but you will have to ask your FA about it,” the official said.
“You will also have to speak to Kalusha Bwalya.”
Bwalya could not be reached for comment.
Safa spokesman Dominic Chimhavi said nothing had been confirmed, but suggested they were trying to secure the Zambian meeting.
“There has been nothing confirmed as yet on any of our games,” Chimhavi said.
“When we know, we will announce in due course, but it would be an honour to play the African champions.”
Bafana are expected to play four friendly internationals in September and October.
The away game against Euro co-hosts Poland in October was confirmed by Safa last month.
The South Africans may struggle to obtain the two fixtures in September, however, with worldwide World Cup qualifiers.
One of the games, though, is expected to be played against a Middle East country, possibly the United Arab Emirates, who have been eliminated from the Asian qualifiers. – Sapa
