Fifa rankings: Bafana hold on to 60th

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana have managed to cling to 60th place on the latest FIFA men's rankings, which were released on Thursday.

South Africa's coach-less international team are yet to play in 2017 and will not take part in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Gabon after failing to qualify.

During 2016, while Shakes Mashaba was still at the helm, Bafana won five and drew seven of the 12 games they played to move up from 74th to 60th. 

The team's highest ever ranking came in 1996, the same year that South Africa hosted and won Afcon.

Meanwhile, Argentina currently top the rankings, with Brazil in second and reigning World Cup Champions Germany in third.
