Pitso Mosimane is not concerned about the fact that the USA have brought an understrength team to South Africa.

Bafana Bafana host the Americans at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday (9.30pm).

The team that US coach Bob Bradley has selected for the trip to SA is massively changed from the one that were knocked out of the World Cup last 16 by Ghana here just a few months ago.

Stars like Landon Donovan, Carlos Bocanegra, Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, Jozy Altidore and Maurice Edu are all notably absent from the squad, which is made up of mostly US-based players.

Bradley has called up six uncapped players including 17-year-old Juan Agudelo – a New York Red Bulls youth player, who made his first MLS start last month and was so shocked by his call-up he thought his teammates were playing a prank on him – and has not included those whose teams are still involved in the MLS play-off.

Bafana boss Mosimane will field a close to full-strength team and he insists the USA will provide a real test.

“US is a strong team, they didn't bring some of their players (but) I have made eight changes,” says the coach.

“I think it's about time me and Bradley made changes. It's time to bring in new players, it's the time to give the other guys a chance.

“(But) we are not just playing anybody, we are playing the team that has qualified for all the World Cups since 1994. We are playing a tactically disciplined team, a team that has had good physical preparation.”

Mosimane has indicated that he will try to give regular fringe players like Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Andile Jali as well as newcomers like Davide Somma a chance.

“We have six subs and I will try and give them a chance,” adds Mosimane.

“It's a jam-packed midfield and it's not easy but Matthew Pattinson deserves a chance. Andile Jali has been a star, he's a gem. And Kermit Erasmus is a gem.”

With regards to Somma, the boss says: “It’s his first game if he comes on so let's give him a break.

“A lot of players have scored on their debuts, if he comes on maybe he can score but I am not looking for a goal. It’s just an introduction to Somma.”
