Copenhagen, Denmark – Sunderland striker Nicklas Bendtner, Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen and Liverpool defender Daniel Agger have been called up to Denmark's squad for the European Championship.

Denmark coach Morten Olsen named 20 players on Wednesday, leaving three spots open before the May 29 deadline.

Olsen says Bendtner “is an important piece” in the puzzle, and his role is not just to score goals but “he is very good in combinations.”

Olsen also picked veteran goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen, AS Roma defender Simon Kjaer and veteran Dennis Rommedahl. Olsen said the Brondby winger has a thigh injury but “will be ready” in time for Euro 2012.
